Lisa Foti-Straus
As an artist and designer, I have worked in different mediums and scales, from film to wood, pots to structures. In 2008, I co-founded Gravel & Gold in San Francisco, where I designed silkscreened textiles for our in-house clothing line and co-ran our shop until 2015. Working with the wonderful makers we represented, I was exposed to many paths of creative life. Through Lloyd Kahn, whose Shelter Publications we carried at the shop, I was directed to the Heartwood School in Western Massachusetts, where I trained in timber frame building over several summers. 2017, I entered the Furniture Design program at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2019.

As a continuation of these varied impulses to make, I have been working with Barrett, jointly, as TUTTO Studio.

Barrett Purdum
In 2008, I co-founded the men's clothing brand Taylor Stitch. The journey started with a business-driven interest in creating clothing that fit better. Growing an apparel company necessitated and awakened a passion for design and fabrication. Eight years later, I found myself increasingly intrigued by the process of making things.

We moved to Providence, RI, to be near RISD, where Lisa was studying, in 2017. There, I started a silkscreen studio practice. Under the label Rhode Island Color Experiment, I designed and printed textiles for yardage and clothing, as well as a few works on paper.

A concurrent and growing interest in building and timber framing led to working at the Heartwood School over several program cycles and to the formation of TUTTO Studio. With Lisa, I am now co-designing objects and structures, putting all of my experience and skills to work in the design and buildout of a cabin in Sorrento, Maine. I also work solo on my own concepts and on business mentorship for small business owners.
